Sakkie started his working career in 1975 and completed his Agriculture Diploma at Potchefstroom Agriculture College in 1980. Thereafter he completed his IPM Diploma from the Institute of Personnel Management in 1984, and his BA Degree at the University of Pretoria in 1991 followed by his HRD (Hons) at RAU in 1998. He is currently busy with his MPhil in Human Resources at the University of Pretoria. He is registered as a Chartered HR Practitioner (in the category of Generalist as well as in Learning & Development). He serves as a mentor for the SABPP and served as a member on the Board of the SABPP. He was also the acting ETQA Manager for the SABPP. He has over 40 years’ operational experience. He served in the public and private sector on various management levels. He worked in industries such as Agriculture, Mining Industry, Construction, Electrical Industry and ETD. He is also involved in the Higher Education since 2008 at the University of Pretoria, UNISA and North-West University.
“HR is a profession” says Sakkie, “and the current HR Standards, competency models and work integrated learning (WIL) opportunities pose major challenges to HR practitioners, including HR prospects.”
